One of our favorite singers/performers is Max Raabe and his band, das Palast Orchester. For those who haven't heard of him, Max Raabe und das Palast Orchester give concerts with music from the '20s and 30s - an era, which we find fascinating. The music they play is either original or new music in that style. Some also are covers of well known tracks like Tom Jone's "Sexbomb" or Tainted Love by Soft Cell (see the video after the cut).
Here's also a presentation of Max Raabe und das Palast Orchester, after their concert at Carnegie Hall. And one quote, which we love: "The music of the 20's and 30's is the most elegant pop music that has existed. And it's nice to misbehave in a tuxedo."
